MS4 Status Reports

Solebury Township Watersheds An MS4 report refers to a Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) report, which is a compliance document required under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program, regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the United States.

Purpose of an MS4 Report:Under construction
MS4 reports document efforts to reduce stormwater pollution by municipalities, counties, and other public entities that operate stormwater drainage systems separate from sewage systems. These reports ensure compliance with the Clean Water Act and detail how a permit holder is implementing stormwater management practices.

Key Components of an MS4 Report:

  1. Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP) Implementation – Updates on progress in reducing pollutants from stormwater runoff.
  2. Public Education & Outreach – Efforts to inform the public about stormwater pollution prevention.
  3. Public Involvement & Participation – Community programs, clean-up events, or stakeholder meetings.
  4. Illicit Discharge Detection & Elimination (IDDE) – Actions taken to identify and eliminate illegal discharges into stormwater systems.
  5. Construction Site Stormwater Runoff Control – Regulation of construction activities to prevent sediment and pollutant runoff.
  6. Post-Construction Stormwater Management – Long-term strategies to manage stormwater after construction projects are completed.
  7. Good Housekeeping & Pollution Prevention – Maintenance practices for public facilities, roads, and stormwater infrastructure.

In 2023, the DEP began using Greenport as the reporting mechanism to issue MS-4 reports which changed the reporting format for reports issued after 2023.
